Our Preschool Class

We support active learning in all our classrooms. We use mixed age classrooms to assist our students with learning differentiation and different learning levels. We use the Perry High Scope Curriculum.

From daily routines, to manners at meal times, to letter names and sounds, to name recognition, counting to 100 and more our Preschool classes focus on expanding the academic foundations our students have to be Kindergarten ready!

This is the age group where we use more observational assessment of skills, milestones and learning to ensure school readiness.

At times school readiness in this age looks like walking in a line, playing "Simon Says", playing "Red Light, Green Light", sitting quietly for materials, listening when a teacher is asking for attention and learning to shift between activities when a teacher asks. These skills are absolutely necessary in school but are not the highly rigorous academics we traditionally think of.

Our teachers are highly qualified, eager to work with our students and committed to the best outcomes possible. All students work to learn the alphabet and phonetics, one-to-one correspondence, as well as life skills to enable them to have the greatest foundation for their futures.

We use Missouri Early Learning Goals as well as the Common Core Standards to guide our student's learning objectives scholastically.
